Start your IT career somewhere that matters

Most of our senior team started with us as apprentices. If you like solving problems, enjoy helping people and want your work to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

More than fixing computers

Working at Drift means working in schools. Every day, our team keeps the technology running for teachers and pupils, so lessons can happen without a hitch.

It’s varied work. One day you might be onsite at a school, the next on the helpdesk, the next helping install a new network or a classroom display. You’ll get to know the schools you support, and they’ll get to know you.

The first thing everyone hears when they join us is that our job is to underpin teaching and learning. Do that well and you go home feeling part of something that matters.

Our apprenticeship programme

Our apprenticeship turns problem-solvers into skilled school IT technicians. It’s a great start for school and college leavers who want a real job, real experience and a recognised qualification at the same time.

A recognised qualification

You’ll study for a Level 3 IT apprenticeship with our training partners, alongside vendor certifications.

Our own training

On top of your studies, we’ve built a year-long training package that teaches the skills you need to be an Education IT Technician, working alongside experienced members of the team.

Paid, hands-on work

You’re part of the team from day one, working on the helpdesk, out in schools and on installation projects, so you see every side of the job.

Somewhere to go next

There’s a clear path to carry on your career with Drift once you finish. That’s exactly how most of our senior team got where they are today.

What it’s like to start here

  1. Learn the ropes

You’ll start alongside experienced technicians, learning how schools work and how we support them.

  2. Build your skills

Your studies, our training and real work in schools build your confidence week by week.

  3. Find your path

Helpdesk, onsite support, projects or installations: you’ll find what you enjoy and where you’re strongest.

What we look for

You don’t need to know everything already. We’re far more interested in the kind of person you are.

  • You enjoy working out why something isn’t working, and fixing it
  • You’re friendly, patient and happy explaining things to people who aren’t technical
  • You care about outcomes: doing a good job and making a difference to the schools you work for
  • You’re reliable and happy to learn from the people around you

Because we work in schools, everyone at Drift has an enhanced DBS check.

College placements

We also offer work placements for college students studying IT. It’s a chance to see what school IT support is really like and get some experience behind you. If your college is looking for placements, get in touch.
